Research continued..

I have been looking at modern fonts, what people consider to BE 'modern fonts' and what we could be expect to see in the future. Although serif fonts are still used often today, sans serif fonts seem to be considered more contemporary. This is an example I found:

It is basic, but features unusual/unique angles, which gives the font a 'quirky' feel.
